Anglocom submits winning name

Nearly 600 competition entries

Quebec City, September 8, 2010 – A copywriting competition by the American Translators Association (ATA) to find a name for its new newsletter has handed Anglocom its third U.S. award in less than a year.

Introducing The ATA Compass

The ATA Compass was the winning name Anglocom translator/copywriter Andrea Ondak submitted for the new ATA newsletter aimed at buyers of translation and interpretation services. It is accompanied by the tagline Your guide to translation in the global market. For her suggestion Ms. Ondak has won a trip to Denver, Colorado, to attend the annual ATA conference, October 27 to 30, 2010.

The ATA Compass offers practical tips and best practice information to managers of translation projects. It is available at http://www.atanet.org/compass/.

A third Anglocom win

This honor comes on the heels of Anglocom’s 2009 Alicia Gordon Award for Word Artistry in Translation, which it won for its translation of a Quebec City Tourism TV commercial. Also in 2009 Anglocom French-to-English translator Brooke Davies won an ad adaptation competition held under the auspices of a training symposium in New York State.
