Training seminar on translating for the government, by Anglocom president Grant Hamilton

Quebec's Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés is offering an intensive all-day seminar on Saturday, January 28, 2012, by Anglocom president Grant Hamilton on translating for the government. The seminar is designed to provide translators with strategies and techniques for turning government texts and administrative French in general into idiomatic English that is both easy to understand and enjoyable to read.

About the trainer
A Laval University translation graduate, Grant Hamilton owns and manages Anglocom, a Quebec City agency that handles a broad range of administrative work, including for virtually every Quebec government department. Mr. Hamilton frequently delivers professional development workshops to translators and teaches a course in French-to-English translation for marketing and advertising at New York University. He is also on the OTTIAQ Board of Directors, assistant administrator of the American Translators Association’s Translation Company Division, and president of the Quebec wing of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. In spring 2011, his book, Les trucs d’anglais qu’on a oublié de vous enseigner, was published by L’instant même.
